Downtime
When downtime in WoW lets you do other things...

WoW at the moment is in a serious lull phase. The patches that have dropped since the raid released, Liberation of Undermine, have been... lacking I guess?
Rewarmed content in the form of Horrific Visions, which bar the purple bike and the head enchants have been entirely ignored by me.
Dastardly Duos, which I forgot was even a thing until the day before their first reset, was done inside of 15 minutes despite reading nothing up on them bar how to start them.
The Nightfall stuff, which was so bugged on release it wouldn't even start, never mind the fact that Blizzard, for insane and unknown reasons, removed all of the titles associated with each of the 10 Renown ranks bar two of them, meaning no-one wanted to play it.
Patch 11.1.7 launches next week, bringing with it more meh, this time in the form of "Overcharged Delves". Woop.
So yeah, outside of the raid and mythic+, which for me are already done and dusted for the season at the mid-point, there's very little worth the actual time and effort.
What to do?
Well, I have a huge Steam back catalogue to chew through, and I've been playing a lot of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, as has half the world seemingly.
Baldur's Gate 3, which I still haven't as yet finished, sits there, mocking my ADHD with a smug grin of defiance.
Beyond that I've a bunch of smaller indie and cosy games I've been playing, such as Animal Well, Tales of Seikyu, Return of the Obra Dinn, as well as big titles that will help show of the raw power of my RTX 5090, which I got a couple of weeks ago.

I've also been reading a lot, mainly the Starsea Cycle by Kyle West, a 10 book fantasy/sci-fi series. I'm currently on book 9 and have been enjoying that a lot lately.
Other than that I've not had much time recently for anything outside of daily life. I've been busy the past few months with my final full module for my Open University Degree, the final examinable assignment for which was submitted just last week. That and work keeping me busy, as we prepare to roll out our Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade deployments.
I've also been trying to make more of an effort with my social media presence (ahem), as I've been neglecting posting anything to any of my socials for quite a while now.
Currently I'm on 3 different platforms: Bluesky, Mastodon, and to a much lesser degree, Threads. I don't post to Twitter at all now, and haven't since late last year, given how much of a cesspool it has become since Musk took over.
I guess once I start posting more regular content here, and cross-posting blog posts to those three platforms, that should help drive me to engage more with them.
Until then...
WoW's next raid cycle isn't due to start until around September I imagine, so that's 3 months of raid-logging, getting everyone in the raid team their Mythic Gallywix mounts, then taking a break until September rolls around for the final raid season of The War Within.
Hopefully that final raid is a step up, particularly the last boss, because overall this tier has been too easy tbh.
Probably a bad time to relaunch a blog, when my primary gaming interest is winding down big-time, but I did create this with the intention of writing about much more than just World of Warcraft. Yes, obviously there will still be regular WoW posts, but I'm not painting myself into a corner, much like I felt like with Nerdrooted...
And it's around September time that I'll be hitting the big 5-0! Yep, I'll be turning 50 this year! Still doesn't feel like I'm anywhere near that age, except for the pains and aches mind you 😅
So yeah, a few months of WoW downtime/raid-logging probably won't hurt to help me concentrate on other things for a while!
(What has a Pug got to do with Downtime? Nothing, except it looks bored and I love pugs 😉)
